Carnival 2017!

So I'm one of those firm believers that NOTHING should be spoken of Carnival until the Christmas Season and all that it represents has had all the glory and honor that it deserves.  Now that we have given due praise to the birth of our Lord & Savior, I truly believe that we can slip into a season of celebration of music, color, food, life, and culture!

Bellisima Designs has created a glittering creation befitting of Ms. Flag Fantasy, and we are looking forward to flaunting it on the 2017 Carnival Circuit!

Let the festivities begin, and by all means, let the countdown begin ... Carnival is just around the corner, and coming to a city near you!

2016 Miami Broward One Carnival!

Labor Day on the Parkway was a nice time.  Lots of color and costumes and cool Caribbean vibes for the West Indian American Day Parade!  Those who were careful enough to preserve their beads and feathers are now looking ahead to Miami Broward One Carnival which takes place over the Columbus Day Weekend (Thursday, October 6th through Monday, October 10th, 2016).

Flag Fantasy is especially looking forward to that weekend to participate in the annual Carnival Pop Up Shop Miami, where a large number of vendors will be assembled at the Grand Café in Pembroke Pines, FL to provide last minute goods and services to the throngs of crowds converging on Miami for the Carnival that weekend.  Stop by to say hello and maybe pick up a FlagFan or 2 for you and your Crew to #RepOnDeRoad at the parade on Sunday!

2016 Montreal Carifiesta!

2016 Montreal Carifiesta! from Flag Fantasy on Vimeo.

On Saturday, July 2nd Montreal qualified to become the new "Windy City"! It was also Wet, Wild & Sunny … yes, all of the above! Despite the crazy weather the Carifiesta Parade was lovely and included lots of color, music, & costumes. Of course Ayiti came out to represent as usual, and a great time was had by all the masqueraders as they paraded downtown on St. Catherine Street!

St Thomas USVI Carnival 2016 from Flag Fantasy on Vimeo.

 Excerpted from www.vicarnival.com

Every year, thousands of visitors from the United States, Caribbean Islands and other international destinations gather in Charlotte Amalie for the island’s largest event.

For V.I. Carnival 2016, the Virgin Islands Carnival Committee is crediting the Jam Band and their 1994 Road March tune “Showtime”, by selecting the theme “Nothing is More Fabulous than Carnival in St. Thomas!”

V.I. Carnival 2016 is scheduled to begin April 2nd with the Calypso Elimination Tent, and culminate on April 30th with the Adults' Parade and fireworks.

Best Wishes for a Safe & Happy USVI Carnival Celebration!

2015 Christmas Culture

Black Friday!   Christmas to Carnival!  As cooler temperatures become the norm throughout North America and Europe, things start to warm up in the Caribbean, where the Christmas Season is filled with the joyous anticipation and celebration of the birth of the Lord.  Christmas preparation focuses on  special traditional dishes and drinks, and Parang music influenced by Latin culture.  Of course many complain that Carnival keeps nipping on the heels of Christmas more and more each year, thereby not giving the latter the full focus and extent of celebration it deserves.   We at Flag Fantasy agree with that assessment, but that being said, would like to remind our fans that this is a short Carnival season (Monday, Feb. 8th & Tuesday, Feb. 9th) … So if you're looking for the ideal Christmas Stocking Stuffer for the Carnival Reveler on your list, you can't go wrong with our FlagFans!   Buy 3 or more and get Black Friday discounts of 20% from now through Carnival by using Discount Code BlackFriday on qualifying purchases!

Miami Broward Carnival 2015

Summer is winding down here in North America, and its unofficial close was marked by the Labor Day Parade in Brooklyn, NY.  A great time was had by all!

However things are NOW heating up in Florida with Miami Broward Carnival  just around the corner!  Fetes, Flag Parties, Food and Fun will be on tap all weekend long for the Columbus Day holiday!  Bands like Radikal International, Bajan Fuh Evah, Ti Chapo, and One Island Band will be showcasing their colors & creativity at the Carnival Parade on Sunday, October 11th.  And of course, for the first time we will be missing the sweet strains of Calypsonian Rootsman (Yaseu Isei) at the carnival. But he had been preparing us for this for years … "In Miami … When you miss me, I'll be there!"

Have a Safe & Happy Miami Broward Carnival and Stay Cool!!!

2015 Trinidad & Tobago Carnival

Best Wishes for 2015 to all Flag Fantasy Supporters!  As this new year begins, we look back to what we left behind in 2014, and look forward to what can be improved upon in 2015.  It's a time of new beginnings and the hope and aspiration that somehow 2015 will magically deliver all that has yet been unfulfilled in the past.

In terms of carnival music (which sets the tone for the whole season) we already realize that Machel Montano has the Remedy for one's being a Lyrikal Loner, despite the fact that a particular woman's Bumpa is a Magnet that prevents one from getting Lucy!  The music is coming out fast and furious, and Rhapsody.com is still yet to showcase a Soca genre as opposed to the "Dancehall, Reggae, World Fusion" genres attributed to the TnT artists blowing up their airwaves.  Soca is here to stay and needs to be given its due respect for the art form it has proven to be.

We look forward to all that the upcoming TnT Carnival has to offer in terms of music, mas', culture, food, and drink, and we wish all a Safe & Happy Carnival 2015!

Cheers!
